Biography

Amanda Vickers is a medicinal plant chemist, product developer, and entrepreneur, currently directing a botanical testing and formulation lab in North Carolina. Bent Creek Institute is a nonprofit organization, founded to connect conservation-driven botanical research from the Southern Appalachian Mountains to commercialization opportunities in a rapidly expanding global natural products marketplace. In 2012, BCI launched the US Botanical Safety Lab, which has since helped more than sixty companies to propel new innovative natural products to market and clear major regulatory milestones. Amanda is also a founding partner of a natural body care company, Mountains to Sea, which creates opportunities to experience more nature every day through a line of “pure and wild” products produced by an integrated network of horticulturists, conservationists, wild harvesters, small farmers, artisans and makers deeply engaged in exploring new definitions of purity and wilderness in an age of exponential accelerations in technology, connectivity, climate change and human population growth.
